It's happening right now. Hundreds of candidates are powering up new PCs, upgrading from dial-up to broadband, and attaching electronic resumes to outgoing e-mails. At the same time, dozens of new corporate career sites are going live and hundreds of jobs are being posted on thousands of job boards. Everywhere you look, increased internet and e-mail usage is blowing open the lines of communication between recruiters and candidates.
While in the long term these open lines of communication have the undeniable potential to make matching jobs to candidates easier than ever, the short term reality is a little more problematic. In fact, until technologies and processes are put in place to facilitate this increasing flow of data it can be more of a burden than boon, undermining operational efficiency and, ultimately, quality of hire. The challenges are many: recruiting systems are straining under the weight of the added traffic, recruiters are being swamped by an unprecedented amount of inbound electronic candidate data, and quality candidates are growing jaded — tired of jumping through hoop after hoop on hastily thrown together online career portals.
This paper will illustrate how a comprehensive electronic resume processing strategy backed by industry-leading technology can improve the hiring experience for candidates and recruiters and ultimately help achieve better hires for less.
